The pallet loading problem: A survey

Material handling is an important pan of production and distribution systems. The use of pallets to handle large quantities of properly stacked cartons has been recognized as one of the most important ideas in material handling. The pallet loading/packing problem is that of constructing a unit load for safe and efficient transportation. This paper provides a survey of recent research relating to considerations in pallet packing, the models and solution procedures used in pallet packing, and implementation of these approaches in palletization stations.
