Zusammenfassung:Given the many social responsibility issues impinging on large retailers today, few decisions are as perplexing as the supermarket chain exploring ghetto locations. The controversy simmers over the inner-city's inefficient grocery retailing, the poor paying more, and the scarcity of chain supermarkets. To enable students to problem solve this management dilemma, this article presents an experiential case, “the ghetto supermarket”–an actual case history consisting of role-playing and discussion phases.
