Zusammenfassung: | The Cinnabar Hawk-Owl (Ninox ios) is a species recently described from a single specimen collected in 1985 from Bogani Nani Wartabone National Park in North Sulawesi Indonesia. A second bird was trapped on Nov 14, 1999 in a mist net set in primary forest at 1420 m in Gunung Ambang Nature Reserve, North Sulawesi. Lee and Riley compare the Ambang bird to the type specimen, provide the first information on the habitat of N. ios, and discuss its distribution and conservation status in the light of this discovery. |
