Zusammenfassung:Patterns of genetic variation at 42 presumptive genetic loci were analyzed in hummingbirds, specifically the genus Heliodoxa. Phenetic and phylogenetic analyses of the genetic data resolve several clusters within Heliodoxa, and because data suggest that this genus is paraphyletic, it is recommended that Polyplancta aurescens be moved to Heliodoxa.
