The Edinburgh Labour Festival Committee (consisting of members from the Trade Unions' Council, Miner's Union, Labour Party, and Community Party, as well as from cultural groups and independent arts organizations) felt that the Edinburgh Festival did an injustice to Scotland's unique folk arts.
