The Greenwood "Technographies": Life Stories of Technologies

This piece is an essay review of a fourteen-volume series of "Technolographies," or "Life Stories" of important artifacts. These accessible histories fall into three major categories—communication, transportation, and military technologies. Each study attempts to balance the technical with the societal, but individual volumes vary in their orientation from the internal to the contextual. The series does a nice job in reaching out to its intended educational and general readership audience.
