Zusammenfassung: | Emilia Serrano de Wilson wrote in February 1858 in her famous newspaper, La Caprichosa, that the appearance of women in the public scene was related to the development of sociability that took place in the salons of that time. Indeed, Serrano de Wilson played different roles in this world, acquiring with it an unusual public projection. With the aim of achieving a certain level of personal fulfillment, she assumed the role of director of newspapers, as well as the role of host of salons, becoming famous not only in Europe but also in Mexico, Cuba and Peru. Thanks to recent testimonies, we know of the existence of her salon in Paris where she established a powerful network of collaboration with French and Spanish politicians and writers. In these salons, which were held twice a month, it was customary to discuss cultural, social and literary issues. Perhaps it was not by chance that these three themes also appeared in the pages of La Caprichosa, published in Paris between 1857 and 1860. |
