Zusammenfassung:Objectives: Natural killer (NK) is part of innate immune system, and its activity is regulated by activating and inhibitory signals transduced by killer cell immunoglobulin-like receptors (KIsR). Methods: DNA samples of 271 Caucasoid critical care patients of both sexes, ages ranging from 14 to 94 years old, admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of São Lucas Hospital, Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul, between 2004 and 2010 were analyzed.
