Zusammenfassung:Objectives: To know the impact of delayed admissions of patients awaiting for vacancy in the ICU in an overcrowded emergency room (ER) of a public hospital. Hospital length-of-stay increased with greater waiting times (1st tertile: 9.6 days [4-21], 2nd tertile: 11days [7-20], 3rd tertile: 18 days [9-31], P = .002), as well as costs (17% increase in the 2nd quartile and 30% in 3rd).
