Zusammenfassung:With evidence that low serum total testosterone levels are associated with high grade prostate cancer, Zeitelberger et al assess serum total testosterone in men participating in an early prostate cancer detection program and compare serum total testosterone with the Gleason scores of tumors removed by radical prostatectomy. The results reveal that low serum testosterone levels were found in high grade prostate cancers long before cancer was diagnosed and serum total testosterone could be considered as an additional marker.
