Zusammenfassung: | Zatlin discusses the revival of two classic works of twentieth-century Spanish theatre: Ramon del Valle-Inclan's Luces de Bohemia and Fernando Fernan Gomez's Las bicicletas son para el verano. The latest production of Luces de Bohemia was created by the UR Teatro-Antzerkia, under the direction of Helena Pimenta. Their adaptation of Valle-Inclan was more respectful of the source text. Nevertheless, Pimenta also shortened Luces de Bohemia to achieve greater fluidity of action and greater comprehension by a contemporary audience. With this abbreviated text, the play's fifteen scenes were performed in two hours, without intermission. |
