Zusammenfassung:The allegations that the most able completing teacher students intended to leave teaching were challenged by qualitative and quantitative data from 147 prospective teachers. Using personal construct, academic and social learning theory and factors on intended persistence the results were supported by literature: the most able and continuing teachers were confident of promotion, and committed to and satisfied by teaching.
