ABSTRACT The quantitative immense of information conveyed by the media, coupled with the growing use of statistical tools, has required of individuals the domain of statistical knowledge for understanding and for a critical positioning. Given this situation, this article presents a focused educational experience on teaching and learning Statistics under the contribution of Mathematical Modeling. In this sense, it becomes necessary to expand the development of educational activities that present mathematics not only as a science purely internal purposes, but also as a tool for understanding and transforming reality.
