Zusammenfassung:This study examines the phenomenon of opportunism as a key factor behind international market-entry failure of small and medium-sized enterprises that use integrated modes of entry. The authors analyze field data generated from small and medium-sized enterprises using principles of grounded theory methodology. The inductive process identified various forms, types, and categories of intrafirm opportunistic behaviors. The classification process leads to research propositions pertaining to the antecedents and outcomes of endogenous opportunism.
