Biological actions of IGFs in mammalian development

The biological actions of insulin-like growth factors (IGF) in mammalian development are examined. Studies of preimplantation stage mouse embryos have shown that the receptors for IGF-I and insulin are first expressed at the eight-cell to morula developmental stage.
