Zusammenfassung:Julia Marlowe's contributions to American Council on Consumer Interests (ACCI) include service on the Board and membership on numerous committees, but she is best remembered for her work as president in 2000. Marlowe's optimism and confidence became her hallmark during those pivotal years for the organization. When Marlowe moved to a teaching and research position, she took her love of the profession with her. A colleague noted that students in Marlowe's introductory consumer economics course knew about ACCI. Marlowe became graduate coordinator just as the Department of Housing and Consumer Economics at The University of Georgia was establishing its doctoral program. Again, her direct manner was instrumental in guiding the program past the land mines which threaten all new programs. Throughout her career, she continued as major professor and mentor to numerous graduate students. The problems of low-income consumers have been the heart of Marlowe's research program.
