Multiculturalism, diversity, and African American college students

A study found that African Americans with higher racial self-esteem were significantly less open to diversity than African Americans with lower racial self-esteem. Although these students did not see the utility in multiculturalism and diversity on improving race relations, this sentiment may reflect a sense of learned helplessness and social memory based on lived experiences.
