Zusammenfassung: | Both the overall US population in general and the workforce in particular have been aging rapidly and will continue to do so well into the twenty-first century. The present labor shortage caused by unusually low birth rates among Baby Boomers has been particulary acute in some skill areas, such as high technology and computers, and in some parts of the country, such as the industrial Midwest. Given the relatively new entrants in the labor force and the potentially huge number of Boomer retirements on the horizon, the current shortages will likely grow even worse in the coming decade. |
