Perhaps the signal moment in Jerome J. McGann's important work, The Textual Condition, comes during his discussion of an irregularity in the formatting of a T in the Brennbaum section of Ezra Pound's Hugh Selwyn Mauberley. Grieve argues that McGann misconstrued certain facts in his material-based investigation which point to an endemic problem in socio-material criticism.
