Zusammenfassung: | Tuberculous sclerosis complex patients experience a variety of neuropsychiatric disorders throughout their lifetime, including intellectual, neuropsychological, social, behavioural, academic, and psychiatric levels. This article describes the case of a 25-year-old male patient admitted to a mental health hospital after a suicide attempt. He was diagnosed with organic behavioural and personality disorders in the course of tuberculous sclerosis complex. Neuropsychological tests showed cognitive impairment. The patient was treated with risperidone. He was discharged in good mental condition. The patient was evaluated by a TAND Checklist, dedicated to the evaluation of neuropsychiatric disorders associated with tuberous sclerosis. Interdisciplinary care of patients with tuberous sclerosis can contribute to their better functioning. There are no targeted drugs for tuberous sclerosis-associated neuropsychiatric disorders, but clinical experiences with citalopram and risperidone were reported. New hope can be attributed to mTOR inhibitors, which are in the clinical trial phase. |
