Zusammenfassung:dis appointingly) nothing specifically on American living newspapers of the 1930s, we do get illumi -n ating essays on Littlewoods and MacColls Last Edition (1940), Unity Theatre (193656), and a critical overview of the chain of links and influences from Theatre Workshop through to Banner Theatre and Luscombes work in Canada. Ten further chapters are devoted to detailed analysis of a variety of contemporary practices, from refugee performance in the UK to testim o -nial theatre in South Africa, and spanning the full range of performance styles from verbatim theatre and Tricycles tribunal theatre to semi-documentaries, the use of mixed media, and docu mentary-as-process rather than product. All inter -views are prefaced with a contextual essay giving information about productions, company affilia -tions, and a brief outline of the creative, philo -sophical, and political concerns of each director, and are followed by a chronology of the selected productions of that practitioner, film resources, and suggestions for further reading.
