Zusammenfassung: | The demand for review is a derived demand, resulting from the demand for publication in scholarly and professional journals. Some variables that are postulated to affect the demand for review are also likely to be affected by it. A simultaneous equation model of the demand for manuscript review is developed. Five equations are estimated by 2-stage least squares regression procedures: 1. a demand for review, 2. an acceptance rate, 3. a review time, 4. a publication lead time, and 5. a submission fee equation. Results indicate the interactive nature of the market in which manuscripts are processed and evaluated. Authors possess at least approximate information on review time and journal quality, and such factors do influence their submissions decisions. |
