Zusammenfassung: | We usually expect teachers to pass on to their students a prescribed body of knowledge by formal methods of instruction. I studied a barber college in which teachers did little teaching, and students developed methods of self instruction probably less obvious in schools with more conscientious teachers. I gathered my data by participant observation in the school over a period of five months and by interviews with staff members and about 75% of the students. |
