Zusammenfassung: | Renal haemosiderosis was diagnosed; the scan showed characteristic low signal appearances of renal cortices (that is, a darker appearance than the medulla) on in-phase T1 (top) and T2 (bottom) weighted sequences, owing to susceptibility artefact caused by cortical iron deposition. Renal haemosiderosis is a rare but recognised complication of haemolysis associated with artificial cardiac valves, paroxysmal nocturnal haemoglobinuria, and sickle cell anaemia. |
