Zusammenfassung:This study investigated the difference in pay satisfication and pay expectations for men and women, utilizing a national sample of 716 MBA students working full-time in a variety pf industries, organizations and occupations. The findings provide very little support for the hypothesis that gender differences in pay satisfaction and pay expectations can be explained by gender differences in career paths, job inpts, job facet importamce and comparison standard. Some support for compensating differentials theory is observed in the analysis of pay satisfaction. Current salary and turnover intentions account for some gender differences in absolute pay expectations, but these same variables increase the significance of gender in regard to expected percent change in salary.
