Zusammenfassung:On the basis of the Interstitialcy theory, a method to calculate the fourth-rank shear modulus is suggested and verified. The estimates of this modulus for a number of metallic glasses are given. •A method for the estimate of the 4-rank shear modulus in metallic glasses is suggested.•The method is based on the Interstitialcy theory.•It provides the estimate of the 4-rank shear modulus within about 20% accuracy.
