Comparison of Etest, MicroScan, and Sensititre Assays for Determination of Vancomycin Minimum Inhibitory Concentration Against Clinical Isolates of Enterococci

The goal of this study was to compare the ability of three commercial test systems to define the vancomycin minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) for 203 nonduplicate clinical Enterococcus isolates from blood, urine, exudate, and sputum. Zusammenfassung:The goal of this study was to compare the ability of three commercial test systems to define the vancomycin minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) for 203 nonduplicate clinical Enterococcus isolates from blood, urine, exudate, and sputum. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing was performed simultaneously using MicroScan WalkAway (MS, Beckman Coulter, Irving, TX), Etest (ET, bioMérieux, Durham, NC), and Sensititre broth microdilution using the AIM and Vizion systems (ST, ThermoFisher Scientific, Oakwood Village, OH) according to manufacturer specifications.
