Zusammenfassung: | Reviews the film Kubo and the Two Strings (2016) directed by Travis Knight. The young boy Kubo is on a quest to find his father’s armor accompanied by a monkey, an origami figure and a beetle, through a beautiful world in this breathtaking stop-motion samurai puppet film. With strong symbolism the film uses swords, samurais, shamisens and origami-paper to tell about family, feuds, love, loss, and the power of a well-told story itself. Through Kubo’s quest we recognize the delegations families set their children on. Kubo and the Two Strings is a beautiful and at times uncanny film about family and about mending a shattered past through the power of stories.
