Zusammenfassung: | Discharging wastewater containing surfactants such as sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS) to water and soil to follow, problems such as toxicity to humans and animals. Due to the toxicity of biological and non-biodegradable contaminants, sewage containing surfactants need to be refined in terms of public health. The use of absorbent such as chitosan due to advantages such as, low toxicity and good chemical activity is considered to eliminate surfactants from water. In the present study, the removal of SDBS ions was studied from aqueous solutions by chitosan. The latter was dissolved in 1 % acetic acid solution and afterwards the absorption tests was done in a batch system to investigate the parameters of pH, initial concentration of SDBS solution, the amount of absorption and duration of exposure on the adsorption process. The results showed that under optimal conditions, the maximum effectiveness of removal has been 97.3 % at pH 4. |
