Desigualdade de renda e eficiência técnica: uma análise para os municípios baianos utilizando DEA e SFA

This paper analyses the efficiency in the Bahia's municipalities in reducing income inequality in the years 2000 and 2010. The following variables were used: population out of extreme poverty line, the rate of employed population, the economically active population (PEA), the total municipal expenses, the municipal expenses with education and culture and the percentage of families served by the family allowance program (PBF). The results show a modest performance in the indicators of income inequality. On the other hand, they indicate a potential improvement in the indicators, given that more than 50% of the municipalities presented returns of increasing scale in 2010. In addition, it is verified that the majority of the efficient municipalities are in the interior of the state.
