Zusammenfassung:Methods: We screened 4,013 non-trauma, non-arrest encounters during transport by the City of Pittsburgh Bureau of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to two tertiary care hospitals from August 2013 to February 2014. Eligible subjects had electronic clinical data abstracted from prehospital and in-hospital medical records, point-of-care lactate measured, and 20cc of prehospital blood sampled during transport for candidate biomarker measurement.
