Zusammenfassung:Purpose: Patients after splenectomy are prone to complicated thrombosis, atherosclerosis and chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH). Results: Despite similar age, functionally asplenic patients (HJB+) were more likely to have diabetes mellitus (26.1%) and stable ischemic heart disease (26.1%) compared to HJB- patients (10.5%,p=0.048; 5.3%,p=0.022) and controls (3.7%,p=0.037; 0%,p=0.047).
