Introduction: Status asthmaticus, an acute and potentially fatal manifestation of severe asthma exacerbations, can pose formidable therapeutic challenges often requiring invasive mechanical ventilation methods for adequate gas exchange. ECMO provides a viable option for patients with profoundly poor respiratory mechanics in status asthmaticus when traditional ventilator management is inadequate.
