Zusammenfassung:Corresponding author's email: jhyun@partners.org Introduction: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a heterogeneous disease with inflammation in the lung, and increasing evidence suggests systemic inflammation is an important mechanism underlying extrapulmonary manifestations of COPD. Conclusion: RNA-Seq profile of peripheral blood shows that genes associated with pulmonary phenotypes in COPD are mostly driven by cellular composition, while systemic phenotypes are characterized by gene expression changes that are independent of white blood cell proportions.
