Zusammenfassung: | Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort study of trends and factors associated with gastrostomy and tracheostomy placement during critical illness among consecutive adult patients admitted to nine intensive care units at an urban, tertiary care, US hospital between January 1, 2008 and December 31,2015. The primary outcome of interest was yearly rate of gastrostomy tube and tracheostomy placement; secondary analyses examined clinical characteristics associated with gastrostomy and tracheostomy placement and associations between gastrostomy and tracheostomy during critical illness. |
