A24 IPF: CLINICAL STUDIES, THERAPEUTICS, AND MORE I: Lung Mechanics And The Gastroesophageal Junction In Patients With Pulmonary Fibrosis And Gastroesophageal Reflux

When the cohort was divided between those with and without GERD, subjects with GERD had a higher respiratory rate (24.7 vs 21.9; p = 0.05), lower resting LES pressure (30.3 vs 44.9; p < 0.001), lower crural diaphragm pressure at end inspiration (38.5 vs 58.5; p < 0.001), and higher prevalence...

Zusammenfassung:When the cohort was divided between those with and without GERD, subjects with GERD had a higher respiratory rate (24.7 vs 21.9; p = 0.05), lower resting LES pressure (30.3 vs 44.9; p < 0.001), lower crural diaphragm pressure at end inspiration (38.5 vs 58.5; p < 0.001), and higher prevalence of hiatal hernia (65.0% vs 39.2%; p = 0.02). Conclusion: Pulmonary fibrosis subjects with GERD have a lower resting LES pressure, weaker crural diaphragm contraction, and increased prevalence of hiatal hernia than those without GERD.
