Zusammenfassung:Background: Pneumocystis jirovecii colonization (P. jirovecii) has been postulated to cause lung function deterioration in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and its prevalence is unknown in patients with COPD in Colombia. Results: Fifty two patients were analyzed and the colonization prevalence was 15.4% (n = 8), all of them were over 65 years old with high rates of symptoms according to mMRC (modified Medical Research Council scale) and CAT (COPD Assessment Test) scales, eventually most colonized patients were classified by the Global Initiative for COPD as Gold D (62.5%).
