Zusammenfassung: | Separate multivariable logistic regression models were used with patient alcohol or substance use disorder as the predictor and dichotomized subscales of the HADS (anxiety and depression) and IES-R (total, hyperarousal, avoidance, intrusion) as the outcome adjusting for pre-specified potential confounding variables. After adjusting for family member age, gender, relationship to patient, prior ICU experience, time from patient admission to survey administration, and patient mechanical ventilation use, the association between a patient alcohol or drug use disorder and family symptoms of an anxiety disorder (OR 3.07; 95% CI: 1.31-7.35) and PTSD symptoms of intrusion (OR 3.62; 95% CI: 1.56-8.69) persisted. |
