Zusammenfassung:Methods: We used Cox proportional hazards regression to assess the association between pulmonary function at the baseline exam in 1985 with fatal and nonfatal cardiovascular events over 27 years of follow up. When traditional cardiovascular risk factors, diabetes, total cholesterol, and systemic blood pressure, were added into the multivariate model FEV1 (HR 0.60 [0.45, 0.81], p=0.0008) and FVC (HR 0.66, [0.50, 0.86], p=0.0025) at mean age 25 remain independent predictors of future cardiovascular disease events.
