D30 NEW INSIGHTS INTO OBSTRUCTIVE SLEEP APNEA PATHOGENESIS: Effects Of Hypnotics On The Phenotypic Causes Of Obstructive Sleep Apnea

Despite the high prevalence of hypnotic use (>5% of the adult population), data on the effects of hypnotics on the phenotypic causes of OSA (arousal threshold, muscle responsiveness and upper airway collapsibility) are limited. Conclusions: Standard doses of common hypnotics increase the respirat...

Zusammenfassung:Despite the high prevalence of hypnotic use (>5% of the adult population), data on the effects of hypnotics on the phenotypic causes of OSA (arousal threshold, muscle responsiveness and upper airway collapsibility) are limited. Conclusions: Standard doses of common hypnotics increase the respiratory arousal threshold albeit to different extents without reducing upper airway muscle activity or airway collapsibility during sleep.
