Zusammenfassung: | The 4-category PPACI (controlled, partly controlled, not well controlled and very poorly controlled) was first developed in a population-based cohort formed from two administrative databases and was then validated in a sample of children from a tertiary care pediatric asthma clinic, against pediatricians' assessment of asthma control and severity, the forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1), and the ratio of the FEV1 to the forced vital capacity (FEV1/FVC), using chi-square tests and one-way analysis of variance. According to the PPACI, 63.4%, 15.1%, 20.5% and 1.0% of 13,205 asthmatic children in the population-based cohort were found to have controlled, partly controlled, not well controlled and very poorly controlled asthma, respectively. |
