Zusammenfassung:Ni–Si 3 N 4 composite coatings were developed by electrodeposition from a nickel sulfate bath solution on a mild steel substrate. The corrosion behavior of the obtained coatings was analyzed by electrochemical methods. The amount of Si 3 N 4 particles in the deposit was identified and estimated by the energy dispersive X-ray diffraction spectrometry. The structure and surface morphology of the coatings were characterized by the X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. In this work a comparative corrosion behavior and surface morphology of the composites generated in both the absence and the presence of sodium dodecyl sulfate with Si 3 N 4 was accessed.
