Phenomenology is the study of consciousness to achieve knowledge and insight using Edmund Husserl's phenomenological reduction. Transcendental aspects of this method are better understood by comparisons to Asian mindfulness practices. The phenomenological reduction should become a distinct counseling research methodology.
