Zusammenfassung:	Opinion statement The optimal treatment of patients with advanced malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) has not yet been discovered. With the aid of an increased insight in the molecular pathways and the development of combinations of Immuno-Oncology (IO), drugs new therapies are available. The personalization of treatment by cell cultures and pathway analysis attracts more attention nowadays. It is conceivable that in the near future the treatment of patients with MPM will consist of a combination of IO drugs or specific pathway inhibitors.
