Sport Participation Characteristics Between Suburban and Rural High School Athletes

An abstract of a study by Bell et al examining the differences in sport participation characteristics between athletes at suburban versus rural schools is presented. High school athletes at suburban schools are more likely to exhibit characteristics associated with high volume sport participation. Efforts aimed at safe sport participation may need to be targeted to these groups as they seem more likely to exceed current volume recommendations.
