Zusammenfassung: | Presents an obituary of José Luis Pinillos Díaz (1919 –2013), a founder of modern Spanish psychology. He belonged to the generation of Spanish psychologists who grew up under the mentorship of Dr. José Germain Cebrián (1897–1986), and he partnered with Cebrián in many of his contributions. Of Cebrián’s students, Pinillos was unquestionably the most brilliant and widely recognized; as his career progressed, he amassed numerous honors and academic appointments. Pinillos’ two most popular books were The Human Mind (1969) and Principles of Psychology (1975). The Human Mind was adapted by Spanish public TV and, with more than half a million copies published, made it into numerous Spanish and South American homes. Principles of Psychology became the general psychology textbook used in most introductory courses in the newly independent Spanish psychology departments.
