Zusammenfassung: | Utilisation of psychoprophylaxy and hypnorelaxation techniques adds to the confidence in the obstetrical team, while increasing the confidence in patient's own capacity of controlling the birth, and implicitly reducing the number of Caesarean operations on demand. The term of natural birth, introduced in 1930, by the obstetrician Grantly DickRead, refers to a vaginal birth involving no invasive intervention or the administration of synthesis substances from the part of the medical staff [1]. In the 20th century, several attempts have been made at developing techniques for painless birth. [...]in 1933, Grantly Dick Read stated that pain at birth is based on preconceived ideas, on cultural patterns, fear and negative attitudes, the therapeutical consequence of his observations being "Prepared childbirth tehniques", namely, esentially: "information, relaxation, respiration" [2]. [...]it is the combination of their life experience and their genetic inheritance that determines the threshold of pain or the capacity to resist it. CONCLUSIONS Analysis of the obtained results permits drawing of the psychological profile of the women with high marks for pain at birth (8,9,10); they are extremely sensitive to the opinion of the others about them, always fearing of being rejected or ridiculized.
