Zusammenfassung:BackgroundIn the latest study published by the SEOM (Spanish Society of Medical Oncology) in 2012, the most prevalent types of cancers in Spanish women are breast, colorectal, corpus uteri, lung and ovary. In addition, in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) patients a higher incidence of cancer has been described, about 15–20% higher. Today, there is some controversy around the activity on SLE or even drugs employed such as cyclophosphamide could be an extra risk factor for cancer development in these patients. In fact, there are not many studies regarding cancer incidence in SLE.ObjectivesTo analyze the cancer incidence in a series of SLE patients, as well as their clinical characteristics.MethodsCross-sectional retrospective study of SLE patients according to the SLICC-2012 criteria, coming from the Rheumatology Service of Arnau de Vilanova Hospital and La Fe Hospital. In all patients clinical and disease activity data were collected, using personal interview and medical history.ResultsA total of 140 patients were evaluated; of them, 95% were women with 33.39±13.63 year-old average at the diagnosis time with a 10.05±11.42 year-evolution of SLE. Of them, 6 patients (4.3%) have had some type of cancer, whose clinical characteristics are presented in the table.Table 1CaseGenderSLE-onset ageSLE evolutionCancer typeTime from SLE-onset to cancer diagnosisAnti-dsDNAANAsAnti-ROAnti-LAAnti-SMAnti-RNP(years)(years)1Female1730Ovarian adenocarcinoma21–++–––2Male4718Thymoma−2––––––3Female4018Liposarcoma right leg3++––––4Female4525Invasive ductal carcinoma left breast25–++–––5Female2910Cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN-1)7–+++––6Female2723Ovarian tumor13––––––ConclusionsThe percentage of SLE patients who have developed any type of cancer was 4.3%, which doubles the rate for Spanish general population (2.12%). The types of found cancer are heterogeneous and don't correspond to the usual pattern described for general population in our country.Disclosure of InterestNone declared
