Strategies for Assigning Interval Tolerances

This article considers the strategies of equal tolerances, maximum volume of tolerance region, minimum cost, and optimum price/quality ratio that are used in tolerance design. Expressions for finding optimal values of parameter tolerances are obtained. A strategy of tolerance design is chosen with the help of normalized coefficients of strategies. A high accuracy of computations is provided due to the determination of model parameters at the points of contact of vertices of a tolerance region with the boundary of the operability region of a device.
