There is a growing awareness that far from being the products of an overactive fantasy life, physical and sexual abuse are very real experiences encountered by too many Americans. Written primarily for psychiatrists and other mental health clinicians, the book may also be useful as a broad source of background information for those in other medical disciplines. Intervention by the police, the legal system, mental health professionals, and therapists is discussed.
